Flea Identification & Signs

Fleas are small, wingless insects that are capable of jumping and may be found on animals or within areas where animals spend time.

Flea activity may not always be immediately obvious, particularly during the early stages of an infestation.

Understanding the Flea Life Cycle

Fleas develop through several life stages:

• Adult flea

While adult fleas may be noticed on animals or people, immature stages can remain within the surrounding environment.

The pupal stage can be particularly protected, which means newly emerged adult fleas may sometimes be noticed after treatment.
